One way to find the solution is by the way of education. Many schools don't even have recycle program, this is something incredible. Childhood shall be educated since they are young to make sure in the future they now how to recycle, save energy or water.... I know its not easy but is not impossible. Once in a year many people turn off their lights during 5 minutes to save some energy. Its a good start but we should do it everyday, turning off the lights of the house, the computer, or tv. Probably if one person did this the effect would be very low, but lets imagine 6 billion people did this. I think we could save our lives and the life of a planet that does not belong to us.

Do You know Tokyo characterisitics?? Or New York??, they are big citties, it s the same if u create a "lung" there or in other part oof the world, but we have one and a big one; the Amazon forest. This jungle is dissapearing every day, and we are doing almost nothing to protect it. Why don't we insted of creating small lungs in big citties we heal this lung in the Amazon forest!
If we don't care for the biggest forest in the world, who is going to care about small forests near big citties??
Posted on Oct 17 2009 at 01:04AM by santiago.paez
You are right, but probably big citties are not a good place for a lung,, u imagine a lung near a big city!!! Pollution will kill it, i mean creat a new lung is a good idea but it has to be in a place where it can grow and expand. I think a good idea for big citties is good recycle plan, for example saving energy, picking up papers, anyway u know what I mean and i think its an interesting idea create a new lung but we have also to protect the ones we have.

Why we have to use books and things that many people find boring. If u guys want to create a conscience you can see videos like this one of Futurama, i like it and its something small kids and some adults like, I think this is a way to cooperate! although many people doesnt think the same as me.

Polar bear fair is used for having a good body temperature and many other things due to the place he lives. This video shows how he is taking his fur off because of the future problem that is going to happen. In the real life polar bears won't have a place where to live. Their extintion can be happening in the next 20 or 30 years if we dont act quickly. This typ of videos I think normal people will enjoy more than the common documentary that will be really boring for them. I think videos like this one with some text could do more on people's mind than many other things.

boca. Su propio hijo, ¡¿era canibal?! NO!

U.S.A is against the use of drugs. What they should do is to control the addicts they have there with different types of instituions. How ever they don't like to do that. They sell a special product to Colombia that kills the "coca" but also kills the rest of the vegetation. The "coca" is in many parts of the Amazonas, so many parts are going to dissapear. Are we acting like "intelligent humans" doing this? Please governments of the world! React to what it is really important!

If temperature rises 2 degrees; many insects will dissapear. Polar bears will be in their "stairway to heaven". Many of the Artic had already disappear, and many desserts will appear. Also the CO2 will be 450 parts/million. Many forests and coral reefs will disappear. The earth most valuable treassures will be on their way to extintion.
And u guys, what are u doing for the environment? When was the last time u told someone to turn off the lights? We have to demand each government to act in an efficient way!, instead of wasting their money in stupid things like war.

Extreme cold mornings have damage a big ammount of the crops we have here, in the afternoon the sun is so agressive that many of ponds farmers had are dissapearing. As a solution, we decided to help in our farm planing trees at the side of the ponds we have, this will help the ponds to survive this extreme weather. However, we can do more things about global warming, many people stay for hours in the shower and just don't care about what's going on. Personally, my shower lasts three minutes, 1 when i wash myself, 1 turning off the shower and using the soap, and 1 removing the soap and shampoo. Im sure if people see how many ponds and lakes are dying they will save as much as water as they can. Later on i will upload some photos I've taken on how is reflected global warming in my country. Answer the Call.

Today I had the chance to talk to a farmer. We met him some months ago, and every year he sells his berries (not the normal ones, this ones are bigger). However this year things were not the same. He told me "This new year climate is acting really strange", his crop was the smallest one he had had during all his life. He had no idea what was going on, however his crops were dying. I told him every year things were going to get worse. I told him he could do some things to save his crops. He could take some buckets and take the water from the raining to use it in his daily life. Also he could turn off the light he leaves all night long on in order to watch his crop. Instead he could buy or adopt a dog that will take care of his crop. The farmer probably understood a little bit what is going on, but think of the other thousands of farmers who doesn't know what is going on. They don't know their crops are dying because you left the computer on all the weekend, or spent two hours in the shower...

Many students spent a lot of paper in their universities and schools. Tons of paper are printed every day and thousands of trees are being cut off. Recycling paper means more than throwing a bunch of paper in a box, recycle it! We need to make conscience of the situation we are living in right now, I don't use notebooks, instead in my school there is a green box where people leave the copies of things they don't want, so i use that paper and there I take my notes, teachers like it, I like it and I made a contribution, so I think it's a good method.

I was talking with a teacher about Global Warming and we thought; each year we spent a lot of money in books and copies, and many of those are thrown away. We came with the idea that the school should buy a Wi-Fi web and ask each of the students to buy a kindle or a Tablet pc, there we can find the books and articles we want. It would be better if we had solar chargers for those PC in order to save energy. it sounds crazy but if u think in all the money you spent in a year of school and furthermore in eleven years of school, you will see it's a good idea and some trees can be saved. We are in a point we need to help the planet to survive, we are destroying a planet that was borrowed to us, so we need to think what changes we can make in our daily life to help our planet.

Many jungles are suffering of global warming. Among this jungles the Amazon is suffering. I recently talked to a guy who is the boss of a visitors center in the Amazon, he said to me, if global warming continues the mosquitoes on the top of the trees can't find the water in the leaves, so they will now be on the surface, and many people are using repellents that damages the environment. He takes off from tourist all this stuff that pollutes the environment, he has a big conservation center for the Amazon, he gave me this tip:
If you are travelling to any hot weather; use this ecological repellent called "Palmari Magic Mix: Put equal amounts of Alcohol and “Menticol” in a blender, along with one bar of “Nopikex” soap, 6 camphor tablets, 30 cc. (aprox. 1 Ounce) Citronella essence and 2 tablespoons of 10% Eurax for each 250 ml. of alcohol/“Menticol”. Mix thoroughly and bottle in a manually working atomizer. http://www.palmari.org/vcd/en/repelente/index.htm" it will not cost you more than 10 dollars for the materials and furthermore you will have a good repellent completely ecological.

Few methods
are being applied here in relation to Global Warming. The culture about GW
doesn't go that far in many countries. The Government is not acting as a model
for the people to change their way of living.
Bogota
is a big city with thousands of cars. Many of these cars are buses, these ones
are old and their emissons of CO2 are really high. The governmet has to invest
in new technologies, new ways of taking this buses out of the roads in a way
that many people won't lose their jobs and the emissions of CO2 are going to be
reduced.
Many
people prefer to use a taxi rather than walking because there are many
robbers in some streets, and in other places there are not even routes for
walking. Is the government responsability to act, to motivate the people to
walk and make the change.

Colombia is a very important country for the natural world. It is one of the most diversified countries among all the species of animals and plants it has. However many of these nature we have is being destruct by the Guerillas and the war against drugs. We have the intentions to conserve and keep these place but this war is not letting the government do it, instead its causing us to destroy it, because the government is not getting the help it needs from the international community, nor from our neighbors (Venezuela, Ecuador). The damage this anti narcotics war and this terrorism war is causing to Colombia and to the WORLD in the environmental part is really extreme. Many sources of water are located in these places many possible innovations for these new age we are in can be done in these places. The International Community has to act because this is not a local problem, it's a Global problem.

I couldn't upload my photos from flickr to connect2earth for some reason, however I will explain the photo. There is a tree with its leaves completely black as if a fire had burn it. There was no fire in the zone, it was an extreme cold morning that "killed" this tree, and there was no water because at noon the sun was so hot that many of the water source had evaporate. Next year will be worst. Each year that passes through is going to make these temperatures be even worse than the year before. We need to prepare to this problem, we start by planting trees near the water sources and then by protecting these place in order for the cows not to step there. The rain is starting to show its face again and the water is starting to appear in these sources. However the effect on the economy of the region was something crazy. Most of the crops died, and many trees from the forest went down. We need these months to adapt. Plant trees and take care of them, if another strange climate like the one that just passed appears next year we will be in serious problems if we are not well prepared. Big tanks have been place in order to take the water from the rain, however as we know global warming is unpredictable. Who knows what is going to happen next if we don't give our resource a mature use.

I am totally in accord with you, the government is not investing our money in a proper way. Billions are being invested in war accessories. I'm not going to discuss about politics, because it is a theme no one is ever going to be happy with it, the important theme we all have to be together in is that there is a global warming going on and we have to make something about it. The world most prosperous countries have the obligation to help the other countries in the environmental part.
Mountains are going to be affected really bad by this problem. In Colombia a good amount of water comes from the "Andes Mountains", however some days ago the temperature was so high (something not normal in Bogota) that the "cerros"(mountain) was on fire thanks to guys who drop glasses there. A big part of this place was totally burned. The process of reforest the zone is expensive, but worthy. I have no problem in paying higher taxes, if this taxes are spent in a proper way.

Important things about it:
- YOU HELP THE ENVIRONMENT.
- You are independent on your energy depending the amount of pannels you are willing to buy.
- It could be expensive for some people, however it means you will have your own energy for about 30 years, it is more the money you will save than the one you will spent.
- It is a way to live according to the planet means, and also you are going to motivate many people to act like you.
- We will see a bigger change when more people discover the BIG ADVANTAGES about it.
- It's not anti stetic, as you saw on the video it can be adaptad to the roof of your house, or a design by you.
Hope you like the video, i like this quote, "Some people call this living green, thinking green, ancting green, I think is acting responsibly", this is the conscience we need to create, i think this phrase was amazing.
Posted on Feb 25 2010 at 02:18AM by santiago.paez
One of the factors of global warming is the over population in the planet. More population = more consumption = more pollution; however this more often in poor countries, developing countries or countries where the base is poor like China. There is no conscience about what it means to have a baby. Many poor women have a baby as a source of money; they use the baby as a puppet in order to touch the human heart and to earn money in that way. Its estimated that by 2050 there will be 9 billion people. Imagine all the problems we are facing now (poverty, hunger, social conflict) with 3 billion people more. The planet has some limits, limits we can't exceed. Strict laws have been the answered to many of the problems the humanity have faced. This one is a big problem we should all be aware of, it's the governement time to act for the people.
